I’m so sorry I didn’t write and publish a post yesterday! It was such a hectic day getting assignments finished! (I also wasn’t feeling too well either. 😦 The winter chills and sniffles have set in!)
But I’m hoping I can be forgiven by announcing it’s GIVEAWAY TIME!! Whoo!!

Hi Amanda, sure hope you get well soon. My quilting friend and I are co quilting Tula Pink’s City Sampler. We each take half a row of ten in the same color scheme and are trying to mostly make it from recycled fabric and clothing. My friend say’s that Tula schooled us hard on that scant quarter inch! 😂 I love this book and many online tutorials like yours. Hi Amanda, I live in a limited space, so I really don’t have space for books. I have to make the choice between fabric or books and fabric ALWAYS wins out. My fav sewing book is one called
Sewing by Judy Ann Sadler.
Its actually a kids Sewing book by scholastic.
It may be a kiddies book but I love how basic and simple they make it so kids can enjoy hand sewing ☺

I don’t have a lot of patchwork books, but one that I picked up at a thrift store that I just LOVE is Kaffe Fasset’s “Glorious Patchwork.” I’ve seen a lot of reviews for “Intentional Piecing” by Amy Friend, and that is on my ‘to purchase’ list. I’m a huge fan of your YouTube channel, Amanda!

Lately I don’t realy buy much books anymore because of the great library that is the internet :). But a book that I realy like and use a lot is ‘Quilting makes the quilt’ because it realy shows you that not only the patchwork design is important but what quilting can do for your quilt.

I love the books my Pip Lincolne, “Meet me at Mike’s”. She is a Melbourne, Australia based chickie with a funky, quirky style and not only are they great for sewing and crafting projects but they are gorgeous coffee table books too.

Hi there! I just love Meet Me at Mike’s, Pip Lincolne’s books, they are quirky, fun and very sweet to just have sitting on your coffee table to look at, let alone filled with gorgeous crafting and sewing projects and they are from an Australian woman too which is great. Thanks, Emma B.

Whilst I tend to go to blogs (stitched in color is my favorite for patterns and online classes) my favorite book is material obsession by Kathy doughty and Sarah fielke. My brother bought it for me for my birthday before I started quilting and I think it was the first gift he bought me after he moved out of home. Although not all the patterns appeal to me now the skills I learnt from it were invaluable

I just love the Quilty magazine’s although they sre not sold here in Queensland any more. My favourite quilting book would have to be Growing up Modern by Allison Harris. I have made so many of thr projects in this book

Fast and Furious by Gundrun Erla. My mom gave me this book a while back and I just now got around to making placemats from her pattern. I love them and they were so easy! I also have some Quilty magazines that I found in a 2nd hand bookstore we have here in the states. I’ll read any quilting book!

I always return to two books when I need a how-to: Fons and Porter’s Quilters Complete Guide and the Quilters Ultimate Visual Guide. Your flower arranging is really coming along quite well.

My favorite quilting book is Tula Pink’s City Sampler 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. I have made all 100 of them and several of them more than once! I thoroughly enjoyed making them (except one…I think it was #92). I’m looking forward to reading what others love!

I love books so I don’t think I have a favorite. QID are always favorites, Judy Martin books are wonderful and Lori Holts are so much fun. I don’t have the one you are showing so I will look for that one.

Amanda thanks so much for all you share! I understand sometimes things get hectic. My favorite book is Block a Day: 365 Quilting Squares. It helps me a lot as a beginner quilter to learn to put together patchwork blocks.😀

My favourite book is Handmade Style by Anna Graham ( Noodlehead) as she has such a wonderful variety of projects in it. I have only made one so far (the Carry all pincushion) but hope to do more soon…Thanks for the chance to win such a great giveaway!

I love paper piecing! That’s how I started quilting, I’ve moved on to piecing with the help of bloggers. I’ve learned more from the people that blog about quilting than from books. I sewed garments before I started quilting. Thank you and all bloggers for sharing your talent . Hooked on quilting!!!

My favourite sewing book is Tilly and The Buttons Love at First Stitch. It contains all the patterns to make at least half a dozen garments, all the steps are clearly explained and photographed and I love wearing the completed garments x

A book I return to again and again is 501 Rotary Cut Quilt Blocks by Judy Hopkins. It is not fancy–it’s just what it sounds like: 501 blocks, with diagrams and cutting measurements for different sizes. I have used it repeatedly over the years and find it invaluable.

I don’t have a favorite quilt book since I don’t have any. I’ve gotten my inspiration online by people like you, Amanda. It’s funny, when I’m zipping along your voice pops in my head saying “carefully and patiently sew your 1/4 in seams …”.

My favorite is Making an Old-Fashioned Patchwork Sampler Quilt on the Sewing Machine publish in 1984. I like it because it shows how the relationships – shades, colors and textures can change the look of the same block.

Hello! We missed you yesterday but you don’t apologize. I am sorry to hear that you’re not in full health! I hope your cold soon steps! I currently have only one book by an Italian author who explains the first steps of patchwork. Translated into English the title is “The first manual of patchwork” of Anna Maria Turchi. Has pictures step by step and is well explained and very simple. I would buy other maybe more detailed inspections. During this time I was looking for some titles even americans following the advice in your “Monthly Favourites” and looking on Ebay because in my language I don’t find many specific manuals unfortunately. I love the Log cabin blocks and would like to purchase a specific book. I’ve put on the list. Sooner or later it will come his moment. It’s called 101 Log Cabin Blocks of DRG Publishing. Has great reviews! Then on the web site “Martingale” I found a full list of books also ebook so it is much easier to buy and see without too much expense and waste of time! My favorite would still be Georgia Bonesteel’s Lap Quilting from the late 70’s, another oldie but goodie… My first book! Done with templates, so I use it for inspiration and go elsewhere for rotary cutting… on-line, magazines…Today I use loads of Eleanor Burns’ patterns and ideas, she’s so practical, and Bonnie Hunter Quiltville… Get well soon!

Hi Amanda, I would have said the Farmers Wife book was my favourite but I got so frustrated I abandoned the quilt and donated the book to my guilds library. My blocks got converted to a crib quilt. Gotta love a koala fabric, pity they don’t stock it in NZ Spotlight stores. Thanks for the giveaway.

My favorit book is: Sy Patchwork and Sy mere Patchwork by Bente and Lene Speich (translated: Sew Patchwork and Sew more Patchwork)
It’s a danish book as I’m Danish ;o) It’s a quilting book which covers a lot of basic topics
But I use blogs and youtube a lot!

There are many quilting books on my wishlist right now that I drool over but I don’t feel like I can say they are my favorite if I don’t own them! So, my favorite would have to be “Scrap Quilts by Judy Martin. It is an oldie (copyrighted in 1985), but a goodie! I’m working on a Colorado Log Cabin quilt for my parents from a pattern in this book. Thank you for doing this giveaway, I love all the prizes! I’m super excited to see who wins!

I’ve just recently started acquiring quilting books and my favorite so far is “Splash of Color” by Jackie Kunkel. I just got the book a few weeks ago but I’ve been eyeing it for months. Can’t wait to choose a project and get started 😀

The very first book I bought when learning to quilt was the Better Homes and Gardens Complete Guide to Quilting. It continues to be the one I turn to when I need a refresher on whatever part of the quilt process I’m on. It’s a great resource for me.

I don’t know how I snuck my comment on a different page lol but…
I don’t have a favorite quilting or craft book! Honestly I’ve never used one. I did get one for Christmas that I asked for (The Modern Rainbow) but I haven’t done anything out of the book yet. I guess if my hand was forced and I had to pick a favorite that’d be it. I do love all the quilts in the book 😉

It is sad to say that I have not found a book favorite yet. I have yet to buy a book on quilting but do have many magazine. Where I live I don’t have a good support for quilting so I would have to buy my books off line. I have a very hard time doing that’s bc there is just something about being able to tuch and look at it first. I love to read and being able to hold a book in my hands first (to me) makes the world of a difference. Maybe getting this book will give me the opportunity to start a book stash instead of magazines.

Hi Amanda~ Like Marlene I don’t have a particular favorite book. I love browsing and reading all media forms that pertain to quilts. There is always a new perspective to be seen, lessons to be learned and inspiration to be gained no matter where I look. Hope you can wrap up in a warm quilt with a hot cup of tea and maybe a scone or two to chase away those winter sniffles. Wishing you well…thanks for sharing you insight and knowledge. 🙂

Thank you for all you do. I am sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather and that its your winter as this weekend is a holiday weekend here in Canada called Victoria Day Weekend. I have been gardening all weekend. I guess my favorite book right now is called Scrappy Firework Quilts by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. It’s there for when I want to challenge myself or make a show quilt. Your quilts are very beautiful, you have a good eye for colour which makes flower arrangements that much more over the top as well as your quilts.

I don’t have many quilting books (yet) but I do like Patchwork & Quilting for Beginners. It might be considered a magazine rather than a book, but it explains basic concepts well and has some nice patterns.

I love the Block magazine that Missouri Star Quilt Co. puts out about 4 times a year. It’s filled with patterns that she’s done tutorials for on YouTube.

Sadly i don’t have a favorite book title to share with you. All the quilting I’ve ever done and tips or things I’ve learned have been acquired online. I would rather spend money on fabric than books! Lol. Feel better soon !

Oops I think it ate my first comment- so sorry if I now have two! My favorite book is the Sew Everything Workshop by Diana Rupp because it is how I learned to sew a few years ago. Now that I’m into quilting I am on the lookout for new favorite quilt-specific books!!

I’m so new to quilting that I have yet to delve into great quilt books so for now mine is the Sew Everything Workshop by Diana Rupp because that is the guide I used to teach myself to sew. I made the hand-tied patchwork quilt from that book but the quilting bug didn’t truly bite until I found you on youtube Amanda. Your videos are inspiring and educational!
